Jewelry Care Guide

Your custom gold-filled pieces are designed to last for years with the right care. Unlike gold-plated jewelry, gold-filled items have a thick layer of solid 14k gold pressure-bonded to a high-quality brass core, making them resistant to tarnishing and safe for most sensitive skin.

To keep your jewelry shining like new, follow these simple steps:

1. Daily Wear & Chemicals

• Apply First: Always apply perfumes, lotions, hairsprays, and makeup before putting on your jewelry. The chemicals in these products can cause buildup and dull the shine.

• The "Last On, First Off" Rule: Make your jewelry the last thing you put on in the morning and the first thing you take off at night.

2. Water & Sweat

• Shower Safe (Mostly): Gold-filled jewelry is generally water-resistant. However, frequent exposure to harsh soaps or chemically treated water (like hot tubs and chlorinated pools) can eventually affect the gold's luster.

• Salt Water: We recommend removing your pieces before swimming in the ocean, as salt can be abrasive over time.

3. Cleaning Your Pieces

• Gentle Buffing: Use a soft, lint-free cloth (like a microfiber cloth) to gently wipe away body oils or dust after wearing.

• Deep Clean: If your jewelry looks dull, soak it in a bowl of warm water with a drop of mild, additive-free dish soap for about 5–10 minutes. Use a very soft toothbrush to get into any custom details. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat completely dry before storing.

4. Storage

• Keep it Dry: Store your jewelry in a cool, dry place.

• Tangle-Free: To prevent scratching and tangling, store your custom pieces in their original packaging, a lined jewelry box, or individual airtight small bags.

Pro Tip: Sweat and natural body oils can vary in acidity. If you’ve had a particularly active day, a quick rinse in plain water and a dry pat will help preserve the gold’s finish!
